It is with great excitement that we announce we shall definitely be starting Winter Bible School and the One Year Course on 19 September 2020 despite the present difficulties we face because of Covid-19. We are going to be doing everything we can to run things both safely and as normally as possible and give all our students an excellent Capernwray experience. But it’s unavoidable that running a residential Bible School in the midst of a global pandemic is going to have some consequences…
The biggest challenge we face is the number of students that we can accommodate. Normally we would expect to receive around 160 but due to the measures we are putting in place to live ‘Covid-secure’ that number will be capped at 60. In light of this we have recently contacted all currently accepted applicants to advise them of the changes we are making and the risks they will have to live with, and asked them whether they prefer to come or withdraw. In God’s good providence, 60 have confirmed that they would still like to come. That means we are no longer processing new applications for September. If you would like to join us for Term 2 in January then please let us know by adding your details on our waiting list. We are also still processing applications for Spring School (10 April to 9 June 2021).
We’re striving to maintain the distinctive Capernwray community experience, doing all we can to minimise any risks. New handwashing and hygiene facilities, sanitisation stations, and enhanced cleaning arrangements are in place around the site. Our 60 students will be ‘bubbled’ in two groups of 30, and, whilst the necessary social distancing will be observed by the wider community to reduce the risk of transmission. We have invested heavily in our internet facilities so that if students have to self-isolate, streamed lectures will be available in every bedroom. We will ensure that pastoral support can be provided so we can continue to provide the loving care that epitomises our ministry should we have any temporary lockdown.
We realise that we are not alone in dealing with this challenging situation and we are so thankful that God is with us. But we recognise that his support so often comes through his people joining together as one. So we ask that you would unite with us in praying for the incoming students and our staff team, for their health and safety and for the same opportunities that previous students have had for a life-changing encounter with Jesus. We also request that you would consider giving financially to Capernwray during this time while our income is greatly reduced, so that we can continue to effectively proclaim the life transforming power of the Lord Jesus to future generations.
