“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1

This short film was created as a reflection on taking a step of faith over fear, something many experience when coming to Capernwray. It captures not only student life but also moments of teaching and all the natural beauty of the winter landscape surrounding the site.

Capernwray is a place of learning, growth and trust – I wanted the film to reflect this atmosphere through every frame.

The filmmaking process itself mirrored the theme. During two weeks, I filmed and edited everyday, shaping the story as I went. Some shots were planned, while others came out naturally in the moment. It was challenging, finding the right visuals to use and capturing the essence of the Capernwray experience and making sure the message was clear. But in the end, using a couple friends to give me tips and advice, I was able to develop the story and shots into a completed project.

Looking back, I see this project as more than just a film, it’s a reminder of the power of faith in the face of uncertainty.

Capernwray is a place where many people step out of their comfort zone and into the unknown of the English countryside, trusting that God will lead them.

If this film can encourage even one person to take that step, whether coming to Capernwray or simply choosing faith over fear in their own personal life choices, then it has served its purpose well.

The process of making this film reinforced its own message: faith grows when we step forward, even when we don’t see the whole picture yet.
