Help our ministry and serve our guests for 1-10 weeks during any of our holiday programmes. When you are not working, you can get involved in our wide range of activities and join in with the Bible teaching and worship sessions, which makes it an amazing opportunity to serve God and be richly blessed by Him at the same time.

As a voluntary worker, your days at Capernwray will be full but also fulfilling, and often fun too. We expect voluntary workers to contribute to essential parts of our life together, and gain many benefits from doing so. As a Christian Bible School and Conference centre, we strive for unity, courtesy, respect and harmony within our staff.

You do not need to have previous experience in a similar role, as full instruction and training will be given.  However, a desire and willingness to serve is essential.

Guest Team

Our Guest Team voluntary workers assist in the preparation and delivery of the daily programme of meetings and activities. You will interact with guests, share your faith, provide a safe and encouraging atmosphere and be an example to children, young people and adults.

Essential attributes for Guest Team Members:

  • Living and active Christian faith
  • Good moral character, integrity and relative maturity
  • Able and willing to lead individuals to Christ and/or discuss spiritual matters (training is provided)
  • Good interpersonal skills (willing to initiate conversations & help guests feel at ease)
  • Prepared for early starts and late finishes
  • Ability to serve in a team and take direction
  • Ability to enthusiastically lead activities (sports, social events, quizzes, etc)
  • Able to provide to 2 referees who will be in a position to comment (in English) on the applicant’s suitability for the position

Other desirable qualities:

  • Creative ministry abilities (musical, singer, drama, choir skills etc)
  • Driver for trips and journeys (Capernwray cars & minibuses)
  • Able to offer specific activities (crafts, exercise class, survival skills etc)

General duties:

  • Active involvement in preparing and delivering the daily programme of activities and meetings, including supporting leaders in delivering the children’s or youth work where applicable
  • Interacting with guests (chatting and socialising with guests, creating an inclusive atmosphere for all)
  • Eat meals with guests and giving announcements
  • Attend and participate in daily team meetings as required
  • Adhering to and maintaining our Safeguarding Policy, ensuring the safety of all guests, especially children and vulnerable adults
  • Care of facilities and evening lock-up responsibilities

Dining Hall Team

Our Dining Hall team helps to ensure that our holiday guests enjoy fantastic meals. Your will assist our catering team preparing and serving meals, setting and clearing tables, washing up and keeping the Dining Hall and kitchen areas clean. You may also be asked to serve in the Beehive, our on-site coffee shop.

You will be required to work split shifts in a team.

Housekeeping Team

Our Housekeeping voluntary worker teams work across Capernwray helping to ensure that our holiday guests enjoy clean facilities.

Your work will be to help keep the Hall clean and tidy for our guests: clean guest areas, change beds, clean and prepare bedrooms and bathrooms.

Swimming Pool and Sports team

Are you a lifeguard or a pool responder? We are looking for voluntary help in the supervision of our swimming pool and sport activities during our summer holidays (June – September).

Our Sports Assistant voluntary workers assist in the supervision of swimming pool and sports activities. You will be serving our Bible School students, Holiday guests and the general public throughout the year.

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Poolside assistance
  • Organising student and guest sports
  • Handling chemicals
  • Maintaining clean facilities
  • Cash handling
  • Basic office administration including answering the phone and assisting with emails

Essential Attributes for the Sports Assistant Voluntary Workers:

  • Interest in sport and physical fitness
  • Competent swimmer
  • Reliable with good organisational skills

Desirable Attributes for the Sports Assistant Voluntary Workers:

  • Current First Aid training
  • Current Lifeguard or Pool Emergency Responder training
  • Experience in a swimming pool environment
  • Awareness of customer service
  • Sports leadership experience
  • Coaching qualifications

Audio Visual Team

Our Audio Visual voluntary workers assist the IT team at Capernwray Hall to provide audio/visual requirements for teaching sessions, worship and activities during our Holiday Weeks.

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Operating the sound studio for morning and evening meetings, including the use of the sound desk, projectors and recording equipment;
  • Providing music requirements for activities such as games nights, onsite ‘carnivals’, outside concerts;
  • Providing projection of films and other clips as required by the Holiday Team;
  • Liaising with the Holiday Team to provide a smooth running of activities and events for the Guests attending the Holiday Weeks.

You do not need to have previous experience in a similar role, as full instruction and training will be given.  However, a desire and willingness to learn is essential for this position and it is a great role for someone with an interest in sound and technology.

Projects and Maintenance Team

Our Buildings and Maintenance voluntary workers assist the Maintenance team at Capernwray Hall, helping to ensure that the Bible School students and holiday guests can enjoy our buildings and grounds throughout the year.

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out daily plumbing, electrical and general repairs
  • Cutting lawns and grass areas using petrol lawnmowers and strimmers
  • Painting of external walls and window frames
  • Maintaining the paths and roadways – keeping them clean and clear of leaves etc 
  • Decoration: wallpapering and painting bedrooms and public rooms
  • Daily collection of rubbish in our site pick up truck
  • Driving our on site truck (if you have a driving licence)

During the summer months, from the middle of June until the middle of September you will also be required to help out the Housekeeping Department with getting rooms cleaned on Saturday mornings ready for new holiday guests.
