We think you will be blown away by the beautiful and grand manor house and the wonderful grounds at Capernwray.
The 175-acre estate, with its forests, gardens and lake, is sandwiched between the waterfalls and rugged crags of the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the east, and the dramatic mountains and lakes of the Lake District National Park to the west. The cities of Liverpool, Manchester and Lancaster are also within reach.

Sports hall, Gym and outdoor games
You might not want to sit quietly all the time! In the Sports Hall you can play football, basketball, cricket, hockey, volleyball and dodgeball. When the weather is better, try our outdoor facilities for football, netball, volleyball, croquet, putting, shuffleboard, tennis and outdoor chess, or just walk in our beautiful gardens. Organised activities will be arranged, and you can also use the facilities in your free time.

Indoor swimming pool and sauna
We have our very own indoor pool and sauna for you to use whilst you are here. They are open to the general public or private hire groups, and available for students at different times during the week.

A family home
Capernwray Hall was built in the mid-1800s as a private home for the Lord Lieutenant of the county of Lancaster, and it belonged to the Martons. Now it belongs to the wider family of God — and it still has that feel of a much-loved family home. That’s just how we like it. Before long you’ll be treating it as your own home too.
The lounge
With different seating areas, the lounge is a good place both to hang out and chat with other people, or to find a quiet corner and read. In the winter there is often a roaring fire and there is also a piano for you to play.

The library
As well as the recommended books for your course, the library has many Christian biographies and fiction to inspire and entertain you. It’s also an ideal place to work on your assignments, and has a number of printers.
The reading room
The reading room is set aside as a place to be still — to think, read, pray or study — away from the chatter and with views over the lawn. You can sink into a comfy chair or spread out a bit on a table, write notes, reflect or update your prayer journal. You’ll also find more copies of the books associated with the course.
