On a Capernwray Bible School course, you will complete two study qualifications, one is Level 3 which is externally validated by NCFE , and the other is the Capernwray Hall Bible School Certificate.

The first of these is called Foundations in Christian Life and Service (Winter School) and Principles in Christian Life and Service (Spring School).

It is fully explained in the Course Handbook, which you will be given on arrival as part of your Student Portfolio. In the early days of your time in Bible School we will go through all that is involved in this course.

In addition to this we award the Capernwray Certificate. To obtain this successfully, you will have to pass at least four (Winter School) or three (Spring school) of the formally marked assignments in the Foundations in Christian Life and Service course and meet these additional requirements:

  • Read the entire Old Testament (Winter School) or New Testament (Spring School).
  • Memorise the 20 weekly verses (Winter School) or 9 weekly verses (Spring School).
  • Attend the entire course. You may not begin late or leave before the end of the term.
  • Actively participate in outreach activities.
  • Honour the commitment you made when you signed to acknowledge your agreement with our requirements.

Both of these qualifications are accepted by a number of institutions around the world, and your portfolio of completed work will be a valuable asset to take on to any further study. NCFE is one of the longest standing validating bodies in the UK and they have allowed us to control the Christian content and ethos of the course.

The content of the lectures provides the overall input for the assessment of the course. There are twelve assessment units (nine in Winter Bible School and three in Spring Bible School) which are generally assessed through a combination of written test, essay and personal reflection.

How does the course contribute to University credits?

The qualification you receive at Capernwray may benefit you when you apply to University. Each institution will award different credits depending on their own criteria, so it’s worth asking the University what they will offer you.

For example, one student was awarded 34 American credits for his university application, saving him over $22,000 in course fees. Another received 8 American credits which saved him around $4,000.
