Before you arrive: your checklist
All students have to complete the following before their first day.
Every student:
- Pay your deposit within 30 days of your Acceptance Letter
- Arrange travel to arrive on Arrival Day (not before – accommodation is not available earlier)
- Obtain a police check, DBS certificate, or Confirmation of Good Conduct and email a copy to admissions@capernwray.org
- Take out travel and medical insurance and email proof to admissions@capernwray.org
- Pay your balance of fees by the due date (see date below)
Overseas students (additional steps):
- Check whether you need a UK visa here
- Review the Standard Visitor eligibility requirements on the Visas page
- Pack your Acceptance Letter in your hand luggage for border control
- Book your seat on the London Coach if needed admissions@capernwray.org
- Arrange travel insurance with medical cover

Arrival & Departure: key rules
- Please do not arrive before your Arrival Day. Accommodation is not available before this date.
- Departure: You may leave any time after 8.30pm on the evening before Departure Day. If you need to leave earlier, please ensure you have a written agreement from the Admissions Officer or another member of the Bible School team.
- Staying on: If you’d like to stay at Capernwray after Departure Day, please email admissions@capernwray.org. Requests are considered subject to availability.
London Charter Coach
Capernwray arranges a charter coach between London and Capernwray at the start and end of each term, and over the Christmas break. It’s a convenient, affordable option – typically costing around £40-60 depending on demand, and payable on arrival at Capernwray.

Visa Information (Overseas students)
Check whether you need a UK visa here. Full guidance, including Standard Visitor eligibility requirements, is on our Visas and Immigration page.
- Entering as a Visitor: you may only study for up to 6 months at a time on a Standard Visitor visa. Please check you meet the eligibility criteria before travelling.
- At the border: Carry your Acceptance Letter in your hand luggage for each term – Winter School letter for Winter School travel, Spring School letter for Spring School travel.
Background check / police check
You will be involved in outreach and other events and activities throughout your time at Capernwray, so we ask you to obtain either a police check, confirmation of good conduct or DBS certificate, which will confirm there is no reason why you should not be working with children and young people under the age of 18 years. Once you have received this document, we need you to e-mail us a copy. (If you need a specific letter requesting this please email admissions@capernwray.org)
How to obtain your check:
- Most countries: Contact your local police or town hall. If you need a letter requesting the check, please email admissions@capernwray.org.
- USA & Canada: You can use Safe Hiring Solutions – a fee will apply. Canadian applicants: select ‘NON US Volunteer’ on the form.
- UK citizens: An enhanced DBS check is accepted, or obtain a Basic DBS check here.
Travel & Medical insurance
Travel and medical insurance is a requirement for all students, as set out in paragraph 6.5 of the Bible School Terms and Conditions. UK citizens eligible for NHS treatment do not need to obtain medical insurance.
Please email proof of insurance to admissions@capernwray.org before you arrive.
