Visa Information (Overseas students)

Check whether you need a UK visa here. Full guidance, including Standard Visitor eligibility requirements, is on our Visas and Immigration page.

  • Entering as a Visitor: you may only study for up to 6 months at a time on a Standard Visitor visa. Please check you meet the eligibility criteria before travelling.
  • At the border: Carry your Acceptance Letter in your hand luggage for each term – Winter School letter for Winter School travel, Spring School letter for Spring School travel.

You will be involved in outreach and other events and activities throughout your time at Capernwray, so we ask you to obtain either a police check, confirmation of good conduct or DBS certificate, which will confirm there is no reason why you should not be working with children and young people under the age of 18 years. Once you have received this document, we need you to e-mail us a copy. (If you need a specific letter requesting this please email admissions@capernwray.org)

How to obtain your check:

  • Most countries: Contact your local police or town hall. If you need a letter requesting the check, please email admissions@capernwray.org.
  • USA & Canada: You can use Safe Hiring Solutions – a fee will apply. Canadian applicants: select ‘NON US Volunteer’ on the form.
  • UK citizens: An enhanced DBS check is accepted, or obtain a Basic DBS check here.
