Other Important Student Information

London Charter Coach

Capernwray books a charter coach from London to Capernwray at the beginning and end of each Bible School and at the beginning and end of the Christmas Break.  Cost depends on demand but it is usually around £40-60 and is generally seen as a cheap and convenient method of transport.

Arrival Days: The charter coach leaves from Victoria Coach Station, London, SW1W 9TP. (What 3 Words cook/twist/rope) You must be there at 12.00 noon on each Arrival Day then look for a Travellers Choice coach and people wearing Capernwray clothes. The coach may not arrive in bay until 12.30.  See our information about how to get from the London Airports to London Victoria Coach Station.

Departure Days: The charter coach from Capernwray to London Heathrow and London Victoria Coach Station leaves around 10pm on the evening before each Departure Day, aiming to arrive the following morning.  The journey takes approximately 5 – 6 hours to Heathrow, and 6-7 hours to Victoria Coach Station.  Sometimes we include Manchester Airport in that journey.

Email admissions@capernwray.org in good time to book your seat on any of the Charter Coaches.  You can pay for the coach on arrival at Capernwray.

Important Visa Info

Please check www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa for more information about whether or not you need a visa, what to do when you arrive in the UK, and what documents to bring with you.

If you are entering as a Visitor you are only permitted to enter to study for 6 months at a time.  Please ensure that you check the visa information page on our website and ensure you meet the Standard Visitor eligibility requirements.

When you travel for Winter Bible School you will need to have your Winter School Acceptance letter in your hand luggage.

When you travel for Spring Bible School you will need to have your Spring School Acceptance letter in your hand luggage.

Police Checks / Confirmation of Good Conduct / Background Check

You will be involved in outreach and other events and activities throughout your time at Capernwray, so we ask you to obtain either a police check, confirmation of good conduct or DBS certificate, which will confirm there is no reason why you should not be working with children and young people under the age of 18 years. How you obtain this will vary from country to country, but usually it can be obtained by contacting the local police or town hall. Once you have received this document, we need you to e-mail us a copy. (If you need a specific letter requesting this please email admissions@capernwray.org)

Only for North Americans:

Alternatively if you live in the USA or Canada you can have a check done by an agency called Safe Hiring Solutions. In order to use this service you should follow this link and complete the appropriate form (please note there is a cost payable to Safe Hiring Solutions). Make sure you select NON US Volunteer if you’re from Canada.

Only for UK citizens:

You may send us an Enhanced DBS check if you have one, or you need to obtain a Basic DBS check. You can apply for one through this link.

Insurance

Paragraph 6.5 of the Bible School Terms of Conditions requires you to take out travel and medical insurance. Please note you do not need to obtain medical insurance if you are a UK citizen and eligible for NHS treatments. There is more information as well as a list of previously utilised insurance providers on our FAQs page.

Please note that before your arrival the requested police check and proof of insurance must be provided, as they are a requirement for all students. Your enrolment is conditional and you will not be able to study at Capernwray without these. You can email a picture or a scan of your documents to admissions@capernwray.org.

We are unable to make any recommendations for Insurance Providers, but here is a short list of some that have been used by past students that you might like to consider:
